Started my career here as CIC Officer n EW Officer. I learned a lot about my job and being a good officer from the best group of men I ever served with. My father retired from the Navy (20 hrs) in 1961 and taught me that the best people to learn from and listen to was the crew. He was so right! Great to read all the comments from all who served during my time on board. It certainly was an interesting Med deployment with all the reserves inboard!

My father served on the USS Gearing DD710 from 1956-1960. He is not a computer person, so I entered this for him. He talks fondly of his Navy days and would be so thrilled to find some of his Navy friends. Looking for Edward Thomas Martin and Richard Chumaluski (hope I didn't do too much damage to Richards name). Respectfully, Beverly Newsome

Enjoyed the Newsletter. Excellent coveraghe of past reunion. Appreciate the effort you go to to keep us together> Gearing was among the very best Ship in the Fleet-had several E's, great morale, and an excellent 'cn do" reputation while serving in the Atlantic and the Med. Sorry, unable to attend the Flint reunion but look forward to joining you in Tampa. Sincerely Dick Hanley 1955-1966

Just checking whats new on the site. I am fortunate to live near some old shipmates so we keep in touch. I would not trade my time on Gearing and the relationships we had for anything. So many good men in one place at one time.
