Enjoyed going through your site. Can't get enough of those tin cans. I previously served aboard the USS KENNETH D. BAILEY (DDR-713) and USS HARTLEY (DE-1029). Even rode a couple of minesweepers; namely the USS FALCON (MSC-190) and USS DASH (MSO-428). Should any of you GEARING guys bump into or know the whereabouts of any BAILEY sailors, I'd sure appreciate you having them get in touch with me. I'm very active in the BAILEY Reunions. Did you know that there is a beautiful full-scale model of the GEARING housed in the Officer's Club at NETC Newport? The detail is really something to see. Maybe you'll plan a return to your old homeport of Newport and check it out. In addition to my full time job as a veterans employment rep for the State of Rhode Island, I also moonlight for a travel company and we do alot of ship reunions. In fact I'm always asked to be the guide/escort for these reunions. Should you ever plan on coming back home, drop me a line and I'll do whatever I can to make your stay a most enjoyable one.
