I am a retired warrant officer. My father served aboard the Gearing at the end of WW II during commissioning. My uncle worked at federal Shipyard when Gearing was launched. I have thetassle from the champagne bottle and signature emblem from launching. If any one from the Gearing association is interested in having these momentos let me know. Don Macpherson

I served aboard USS RICH, DDE-820, a GEARING class ship from 61-63. These were great ships to serve aboard and a a helmsman, I was able to feel the ship respond. A far cry from the cold steel ships that replaced our beloved class. This siter is not only a memorial to the GEARING, but to an entire class of ships. Thank you for a trip down memory lane.
