My dad has nothing but GREAT things to say about the USS Gearing! He enlisted in 1946 and was discharged on August 31, 1952, I believe he was with the USS Gearing for four years. I was a Signalman aboard the Vogelgesang DD862 sailing with the Gearing during Solant Amity in 1960-1961. The Gearing was a good ship with a great crew. Spent man hours talking by light with the Gearing Signalmen.
