I served aboard the Gearing from bfore the SOLANT AMITY cruise, until just after the Cuban missle crisis. I,ve just become aware of this website, and I would like to become a member of the association. I was a sonarman, and you can see my skinny self on page 15 of the yearbook. Hello, I believe my Dad, Richard "Dick" White, served on board the Gearing during the early to mid 50's. I think he was a ship's serviceman or storekeeper. All three of his sons later served. Modify this entry (Protected) Remove this entry (Protected)

My father Lester Bergman served as a Radioman on Gearing fron 1948-1950. He has many fond memories of his time onboard and in the Navy. We are celebrating his 80th birthday on March 20. He is doing well and I would be glad to pass on any correspondence to him from his former shipmates. Modify this entry (Protected) Remove this entry (Protected)

The new look of the website is much better and more secure. Not only does it protect the members from spam it makes our email addresses more secure overall. Thanks for updating the site Bob. Modify this entry (Protected) Remove this entry (Protected)
